Inspections

In order to follow university policies, state and federal laws, IACUC office performs scheduled inspections for all animal housing rooms, surgical and procedure rooms. New Brunswick/Piscataway IACUC conducts program review every six months and has four semi-annual inspections per year. Newark IACUC performs program review and facilities inspection every six months. Schedule is as follows:

New Brunswick/Piscataway IACUC

     -Legacy Rutgers facilities: May/November schedule

     -RWJ Facilities:  January/July schedule

Newark IACUC

     -Newark Facilities: April/October

Numerous aspects of the facilities are reviewed during the inspections including but not limited to:

• Protocol and Study Procedures
• Appropriate Euthanasia methods
• Controlled Substances
• Surgery
• Facilities – Housing and procedures areas maintenance
• Record Keeping
• Expired Materials
• Staff Training
• Safety Issues
