Regional One Health Consortium Conference
Overview
The One Health Consortium Conference will take place at the New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health at Rutgers-New Brunswick, on August 5.
The event will be led by senior vice president for research, Michael E. Zwick, PhD, and by the associate dean for Women's Health at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Medicine, Gloria Bachmann, MD, MMS.
Bachmann, also a Rutgers Global Health Institute core faculty member, co-director of the Women's Health Institute and medical director of the PROUD Gender Center of NJ and the NJ Commission on Women's Reentry, has been a leader in organizing a regional One Health Consortium with researchers and experts from New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
One Health is a collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary approach, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)—working at the local, regional, national, and global levels—with the goal of achieving optimal health outcomes by recognizing the interconnection between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. Attendees from the United States Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the CDC One Health Commission are expected to attend the conference.
This event is part of a series of signature events hosted by the Office for Research. This is an invite-only event.
