National Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing

Overview

Join us in participating in a major initiative: the National Centers of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Manufacturing, to be designated by the FDA later this year.

The Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems (C-SOPS) at Rutgers University and the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology and Education (NIPTE) have joined forces to achieve said designation. Industry will play an essential role in the configuration of the center.

We have organized a series of events across the country to present the initiative, answer questions, and receive your input regarding the center’s scope, plans for workforce development, modes of industry participation, expectations on relationship with the FDA, and other critical aspects of the initiative.

The Centers of Excellence will collaborate closely with industry and the FDA to:

  • Develop, demonstrate, and transfer new advanced and continuous manufacturing technologies and know-how to industry and the FDA
  • Design and implement a national plan for developing a specialized workforce for advanced and continuous manufacturing
  • Accelerate pharmaceutical product and process development and facilitate regulatory evaluation
  • Strengthen the United States’ pharmaceutical supply chain and minimize drug shortages
  • Create methodologies to maximize product quality

The first event will take place at Rutgers University on Tuesday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m.
