  • At the Genomics Center, we specialize in Next-Generation Sequencing. We are a one-stop service provider for all the aspects of NGS, from library preparation to data analysis. We routinely sequence DNA and RNA samples of all kinds and from various sources, using established as well as custom protocols.

Key Resources Next-generation sequencing; microarrays; bioinformatics; molecular diagnostics; clinical diagnostics

  • Two researchers in genome editing lab

The purpose of the Genome Editing shared resource is to provide a centralized laboratory for the generation and preservation of mouse research models and creation of custom genome edited cell lines. In addition to its service functions, the shared resource plays an important intellectual role in the development and pursuit of mouse-oriented research projects and the application of genome editing throughout the Rutgers Cancer Institute’s consortium. The shared resource also engages in the development of new approaches and methodologies in genome editing to better serve its users.

Key Resources Genome editing; mouse models; edited cell lines; CRISPR-Cas9

  • Managed by Animal Care, the Gnotobiotic Core at Rutgers provides investigators with the ability to work with germ-free and SPF mice. Currently, the core maintains a germ-free colony with C57BL/6 GF mice. Our germ-free mice are completely free of exogenous, bacterial, fungal and viral microorganisms. To ensure they remain free of all exogenous microbes, our germ-free mice are housed in isolator cages and are routinely monitored. These mice are ideal for the study of the microbiome. The Gnotobiotic Core also provides investigators with a laboratory that contains a biosafety cabinet and incubator for experimental needs.

    Key Resources
    • Germ-free Allentown Sealed Positive Pressure racks that house up to 48 cages each. Isolator cages provide individual isolated clean micro-environment with own supply of clean air, filtered through a HEPA filter. Sterility tested every two weeks. Flexible film isolators available for larger mouse colonies and breeding.
    • Colony management and breeding of germ-free and SPF mice; injections; bleeding; identification; fecal collection; tissue collection for genotyping; sterility testing; sterile supplies for experiments; health monitoring; and animal husbandry services.
    • Hands-on training using the isolator cages, isolators, and biosafety cabinet and hands-on training tailored to the lab's needs.
