Principal Investigator(s): Thomas Molnar and John Capik
Main attributes: Vibrant red-pink floral bract color that complements Scarlet Fire® dogwood in the landscape with blooms that last an exceptionally long time
Strengths & Qualities
Unique, symmetrical red‑pink floral bracts create a vibrant late‑spring display, blooming in sync with Scarlet Fire® and Stellar Nova™ dogwoods for coordinated, complementary landscape color.
Exceptionally long‑lasting bracts, providing up to six weeks of color that shifts through beautiful hues of pink and red as they mature.
New shoots and developing leaves display an attractive purple tint, adding ornamental value even before flowering.
Moderately vigorous growth, forming a tree slightly smaller than a typical white‑flowering kousa dogwood and similar in size to Scarlet Fire® dogwood.
Overall, a disease‑tolerant, low‑maintenance tree with excellent landscape performance and multi-season interest that includes vivid blooms, pretty fruit displays, attractive purple fall color, and interesting mottled bark as the tree ages.
