Biography

Dr. Hershey graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 after which he spent two years in small animal private practice. He returned to academia in 2002 to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience at Washington State University, conducting research and teaching veterinary anatomy in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Hershey moved to the East coast in 2009 for a post-doctoral fellowship at the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials at Rutgers University (NIH T32 Program). He accepted the position of Senior Veterinarian at Rutgers in the fall of 2011 (then UMDNJ) where he was subsequently promoted to chief clinical veterinarian. In the winter of 2020 he was promoted to IACUC Director. Dr. Hershey also teaches human anatomy in the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
