Biography
Jim Schwanda specializes in building high-impact software solutions that modernize research administration. As the lead architect and developer of the university’s Help Bot and Scan Bot applications, Jim is at the forefront of integrating Artificial Intelligence into the research lifecycle. These AI applications provide faculty and staff with immediate, automated guidance on complex funding and compliance questions while streamlining data analysis to accelerate research operations.
Jim also serves as the lead developer for the TechAdvance system, used for commercializing university innovation. His technical portfolio includes Python, Node, and React for API and web development, alongside custom WordPress applications designed to enhance institutional efficiency and interoperability.
Jim holds a BS (Lehigh) and MS (Rutgers) in chemical engineering and is a Licensed Professional Engineer. As a former Lehigh and Rutgers Ice Hockey coach, he brings a team-oriented mindset to software development, ensuring his solutions are robust and centered on the needs of the users they serve.
