Responsible Conduct of Research Training

Required Education in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)

Responsible conduct of research is defined as the practice of scientific investigation with integrity.  It involves the awareness and application of established professional norms and ethical principles in the performance of all activities related to scientific research.

Several federal research funders require training in the responsible conduct of research (“RCR”). To determine whether RCR training is a compliance requirement for your research activities, you should first determine whether your research is federally funded and then choose from the links below.  If you aren’t sure who sponsors your research project, ask your research supervisor.  She or he is the best person to be able to tell you whether you have federal funding or non-federal funding.
