The I-Corps 4-session regional program (Propelus) provides mentoring, networking opportunities, training, modest funding* and access to resources to assist teams (two or more people) with the commercialization process and prepares teams with university-based innovations for the National I-Corps™ Teams Program.

Rutgers Propelus I-Corps Program, Nov/Dec (Deadline Oct 18) is a 4-week regional I-Corps program for innovators to explore the market potential of an innovation by conducting 20+ interviews with potential customers with up to $1500 NSF-stipend for Customer Discovery activities. The regional Propelus program is a requirement for teams wanting to pursue the National I-Corps program and the $50k NSF award, which can be helpful for submitting SBIR/STTR proposals, NSF PFI, other federal funding, or raising capital through investments in a startup company based on the technology.

This Nov/Dec cohort is a collaboration with the Hatchery Innovation Studio in New Brunswick and is geared for academic research teams and emerging startups of 2+ members with tech-enabled innovations looking to commercialize the technology. Dates/Times: Nov 8 (Kickoff in-person), Nov 15, Nov 22, Dec 6 (Finale, in-person), 2pm - 5pm.

In the I-Corps program, scientists and engineers take the first step in assessing if their research has the feasibility to become a product or service of benefit to society. Participants join the program in small teams organized around the development and commercialization of a particular discovery. Teams engage in customer discovery research aimed at investigating the commercial viability and societal impact of a novel discovery or process in science, technology or engineering. The program provides stipends of up to $1,500 and training to support customer discovery and technology investigation. The Propelus I-Corps program consists of educational sessions provided by instructors at our Hub institutions.
